Police To Arrest Pedestrians Who Break Road Rules

The Zimbabwe Republic Police will soon arrest pedestrians who cross red traffic lights or places not designated for crossing.

The new Highway Code will not focus on drivers and cyclists anymore but will see pedestrians who break these rules face a fine of $20 or up to 6 months in jail.

Jaywalking has generally been ignored in Zimbabwe but it seems as if new dispensation is coming.

Also you will get into trouble for using a cellphone while crossing the road.

Should be interesting to have a look at that new Highway Code with a lot of its new issues. Will they arrest people for walking on the wrong side of the road too? Looks like we are going to have classes to teach people how to walk on the road maybe.
