LODGE REVIEW: A nice little surprise at Aloft Garden Suites

Located close to the heartbeat of Harare, Aloft Garden Suites is a convenient spot for overnight accommodation for the discerning individual or couple.

The traveler could be a businessperson, tourist, wanderer, intrepid even or any other kind and Aloft will cater to their accommodation needs with a personal touch from an enthusiastic staff compliment.

Priced around an Airbnb budget, you can choose from single, double, twin and executive rooms appropriately designed and adorned.

The rooms are spaced in such a way around the property that pretty much everyone has a level of privacy. After all, where we sleep is important.

For an area that can have a lot of activity, between 7th and 8th on Selous, it is pretty quiet and discreet which is a pleasant surprise.

If security is your concern there is a guard and CCTV which records and we don’t know about but this brought us peace of mind. This is great especially for your parking for which there is ample.

Unfortunately, which is a bit of a bummer, there are no meals on offer which means you have to go to one of the restaurants or takeaways around. This also includes simple things such as teas. There is however a shared self-catering kitchen on the premises.

Also, you will need to bring your own towel although soap and tissues are available.

There is a laundry service and a housekeeper on the grounds. We had a relatively long stay and we encourage the use of it. That fresh feeling is always a good look.

The grounds are neatly maintained by a landscape technician.

A hands-on director and management also attends to issues. For example, we had an issue with a shower curtain and it was solved pretty quickly.

The WiFi is what you will get in Zimbabwe.  When it works it is great but when the service provider decides to have a nap, there is nothing you can do about it really. Oh, there is a laptop working space for the business traveler. Or gamer really.

It is close to a couple of recreational facilities such as the world famous Harare Sports Club which hosts international cricket, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Botanical Gardens all within a relative walking distance. As it right in the Avenues and central it means most places within Harare and its environs are easily accessible.

We recommend it, as we said, and for its budget, it makes a lot of sense.

Bookings are available on-site, over the phone or their website alofthospitalitygroup.co.zw.
