As expected, Dereck Chisora on Thursday appealed the decision to strip him of his British boxing license.
The Zimbabwean-born heavyweight lost his license indefinitely after his embarrassing brawl with David Haye in a post-fight news conference last month.
Frank Warren, Chisora’s promoter said-
“The grounds for the appeal are that we’re not satisfied with the way the hearing, Dereck Chisora will present his side of events and then we’ll see what happens.”
The BBBC ruled that Chisora is not a fit and proper person to hold a boxing license.
After losing to Vitali Klitschko in Munich on Feb. 19, Chisora got into a war of words with Haye during the news conference and things soon deteriorated into a physical fracas. Before the bout, Chisora slapped Klitschko at the weigh-in and later in the ring spit water in the face of Klitschko’s brother, Wladimir.
These actions led to Chisora being detained and questioned by Munich police after the punch-up with Haye.
Apart from the little excitement Chisora was causing for British boxing, his behaviour has been rather immature for a 28 year old, and lets hope he has learnt his lesson.
