Zim-born, UK-based Singer’s Debut Album Up For Prestigious Mercury Prize

Zimbabwe-born singer Eska has received a best album nomination in the prestigious Mercury Prize for her debut self-titled offering.

She released her album in April and she was announced among nominees for the 2015 edition.

The multi-instrumentalist’s album has received critical acclaim with the BBC describing it as distinctive folk music with a trippy twist. She has gotten critics like Gilles Petersen and Jamie Cullum as fans.

Her style? Well it is not easy to pin down and put in a box but it will take your breath away.

She was born in Zimbabwe and moved to London as a child.
