Zenzo Nyathi to grace Harare with play `An Act of Man` this week

Bulawayo based actor Zenzo Nyathi will be warming the streets of Harare this week with his play `An Act of Man` at Theatre in the Park from the 2nd to the 5th of November 2022. The play was ably directed by Memory Kumbota and it will be running from 6 PM everyday. The admission will be only $3 for adults and just $1 for the kids. Bookings are being done at Theatre in the Park offices located at Corner Leopold Takawira and Herbert Chitepo avenues in Harare. Alternatively, contact the marketing team on 0782217462 or 0774232478 for further enquiries.

In the play, a rain diviner is forced to look not only to past traditions but also to the future to try to come to terms with his own personal misfortunes and the natural disasters of droughts and floods. Told through a zestful mix of storytelling, mime, dance and song, the one hander play adventurously interrogates the role that traditional knowledge systems and science play in a fast-changing world and in climate change intervention.

The organizers, Rooftop Promotions confirmed that they are prepared for the play and are very excited to be hosting `An Act of Man`. Their programs coordinator Passmore Ndlovu says that what excites is that the play discusses climate change, a subject which is rarely if not never talked about by ordinary members of the community. He also urged all theatre enthusiasts to consider booking their tickets as early as possible. The institution also urged all climate change players (both institutions and individuals) including members of the media to participate. The director of the play Memory Kumbota also said that they are ready for Theatre in the Park, urging Harare not to miss this one-hander.

Zenzo Nyathi is a Zimbabwean actor and a graduate of Amakhosi Performing Arts based in Bulawayo. He is also a stage performer, director and writer. He featured in more than a thousand performances in the past two decades. Nyathi is the founder and the managing director of Ingxoxo Arts, based in Bulawayo. He has directed Climate Smart Agriculture Theatre for Policy Advocacy pieces at both national and regional levels. He is a Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) champion trained in Climate Change Leadership and Policy Advocacy.
