Trix Vivier believes that in order to play a character such as Flea, the first step is not to judge her.
You see, “Flea” is an expert wildlife tracker who no longer wants to live the desperate hand-to-mouth existence she lived with her father, Louis. He was also a master tracker, raised among the San of South Africa.
And there are choices she will make.

On being part of the groundbreaking production
I think it is an exciting time in television, African television, where companies like HBO, Cinemax, ZDF come on board. They’ve taken a South African writer’s story and said, let’s go to TV. Let’s make something that is a South African export that can really travel the world and showcase South Africa’s landscape, the cultures, the family life, the underworld and all of these aspects that make this country so complex and diverse but also so celebrated. That is the thing that makes me excited.
On the work by the crew
The crew work incredibly hard. They work ten times harder than we do. The reason why these projects are so successful is because we have an incredible team behind the scenes. The crew, they literally work their bums off. There are reasons why there are cameras that work, why there is lighting, why we look the way we look, the wardrobe, the set, all of that is because we have this phenomenal crew.
Moral dilemnas about the character
Yes, [I had] a lot of moral dilemnas. There is a lot of twists and turns about her. At the end of the day, you cannot judge the character because then you cannot represent her truthfully. And if you do your work well as an actor and by that I mean really delve deeply into why she is doing what she is doing, where is she coming from and what are the things that shaped her, then you won’t judge her because why, you’ve got these reasons.
