WENE Music Awards Postponed

As expected the WENE Music Awards have been postponed by the organisers.

We kinda saw this coming given that the awards were slated for 29 October 2014 and nominations and the sort had happened.

This is the official position of Rooftop Promotions:

This position necessitated by the need to pave way for the ZIMA Music Awards to be held on the 29th of this month.

Wene music ZIMA are meant to complement each in the music awards ceremonies for the benefit of everyone involved and our position has been has been communicated officially to the organiser of ZIMA Music Awards.

We would also like to take this opportunity to communicate to all the musicians and stake holders that Wene Music and Zima awards ceremonies dates will not clash.

This follows reports that Wene Music Awards and ZIMA dates clash and would like to tell all musicians that they won’t be divided on which event to attend.

The Wene Board of Adjudicators and its secretariat feels ZIMA awards and any other that are in the arts industry is they to promote the growth of the music industry in the country.

They said that it is moved to a later date. We think next year.

Something that also derailed preparations was the chairman of the adjudication panel Paul Brickhill being taken ill. (UPDATE: Brickhill has since died.)

However it is not all doom and gloom. They’re working on a new 500 seater venue:

Rooftop Promotions will also want to share this with the public that they have started the construction of their 500 seater Theatre in the Park venue which had been delayed by some papers works  which has since been rectified and work has now commenced.

The world class venue will also be used as the awards ceremony reception as it will match the standards that have been planned for such an event.

Other than that, postponement feels like the new dream.
