Institute of African Knowledge CEO Kwame Muzawazi says the recently launched Chimurenga Music Competition is an opportunity for young people to insert themselves into the narrative of the liberation struggle.

In partnership with ZBC’s Power FM, the competition invited artists to submit versions, remixes and reimagined styles of liberation struggles for a chance to win cash and car prizes with the winner getting a recording contract.

Citing 40 years of independence Muzawazi said the celebration of Zimbabwe’s heritage needed to be to divorced from the prism of partisan politics.
