So the film Lord of Kush is on everyone’s lips at the moment and not necessarily because of the film, as if that is not controversial enough.
It is because of the fact that at its screening director Tendai Maduwa, Daves Guzha, Peter Chura and Kuda Bryn Bwititi. This was at Theatre In The Park this past weekend.
The reason? It did not have a go-ahead from the country’s Board of Censors. Quite awkward, because a board of censors has not been constituted since Emmerson Mnangagwa came into power in 2017.
The film, which stars among others Nothando Nobengula, Tinopona Katsande, Nancy Handabile, Lazarus Boora, Kevin Hannsen, Eunice Tava and Stellah January delves into the sensitive space of Pakistani Islamist terror themes.
