Vybz Kartel murder conviction overturned

A murder conviction against Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has been overturned.

The decision was made by a court in London. It said a juror who had attempted to bribe other jurors should have been thrown off the trial.

Jamaican authorities will now decide over a retrial or freedom.

The musician, real name,  Adidja Palmer,, has been incarcerated in Jamaica due to the unaccounted-for disappearance of his associate Clive “Lizard” Williams.

He was convicted along with three other defendants after a 64-day trial, the longest in Jamiacan history.

Kartel and his co-defendants launched their last appeal at the Privy Council in London, which serves as the last court of appeal in Jamaica and a few other Commonwealth nations, last month.
