Zimbabwean actor Tongayi Chirisa is making more moves in he movie space.
He has been cast in an upcoming movie, Steal Away.
Chirisa is cast as Rev. Hiram Jackson, a beloved preacher, civil rights leader, and champion of the pending Civil Rights Bill. Chirisa is known for his work in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, Antebellum, and iZombie. In these here parts he will also be known for his role on local drama Studio 263 and in South Africa’s Mr Bones franchise.
Based on Andrew Ward’s epic Dark Midnight When I Rise, the movie Steal Away is the true saga of the legendary Fisk Jubilee Singers, a sensational young warrior choir fighting against the KKK’s reign of terror against their schools, including the newly founded Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), not with bullets or bombs but electrifying songs of faith and freedom.
