She will be joined by several Zimbabwean designers who focus on innovative fabric and materials to create clothes, jewelry, sandals and accessories.

The July edition of the Book Café Craft Fair welcomes a solo exhibition and sale by world acclaimed Zimbabwean fine artist David Chinyama, fresh from his highly successful French tour and multiple exhibitions. David Chiyama, renowned Zimbabwean artist will be exhibiting recent works after arriving back into the country from an exciting tour of France. Chinyama’s works focus on colour-and-shape driven emotions evoked by places and spaces that capture day-to-day Zimbabwean moods.

Afro-jazz and tsabatsaba will be swinging through the afternoon on the garden stage with Phillip Svosve’s stunning township brass-driven Jabavu Drive.

Book Café’s Food-as-Culture project offers authentic Ethiopian food classics – Doro Wat, Shiro, and Tibs all served with traditional Injera – alongside a wondrous local menu topped by Daniel’s signature Malawi-style Fish Stew, Rapoko sadza and tsunga ne dovi relish. All the usual delicacies are on offer such as slow roast ox-liver, mashed pumpkin, road-runner, sweet potato wedges, nyimo beans, rump nuggets with home-made juices and draft beer flowing on tap.

Book Café together with partners Culture Fund of Zimbabwe, the European Union funded Action Program with Pamberi Trust and ZAACA are redefining the art craft experience. A conscious effort has gone into elevating the time spent at a craft fair by showcasing diverse cultural and artistic expression through art, craft, performing arts as well as a dynamic culinary platform. This after all is what Book Café is all about.

Book Café Craft Fair embeds the material culture of Zimbabwe into the Book Café’s scope of arts coverage that includes all genres in local music, theatre, film, books, poetry, stand-up comedy, fashion and a wide range of arts dialogue.

Around 30 ZAACA exhibitor stalls from around the country will display and sell a huge array of beautiful craft and artworks while the Book Café Bookshop will be offering an unrivalled selection of local music CDs and books by local and African authors
