SuperSport 9 Replaces ESPN

Multichoice has replaced the now disappeared ESPN with SuperSport 9 on 6 August.

Most of the content that was on ESPN will now appear on the new channel 209 programming.  The channel will be available to  DStv Compact, Extra and Premium customers. Not sure if that means 209 is also available on Compact in Zimbabwe though.

On top of the US sports such as college football and basketball,  SS9 will also bring  live EFC Fight Nights and action from the various domestic soccer leagues across the African continent. Zimbabwe soccer has often been found there.

ESPN withdrew its operations in Africa on 31 July. Multichoice says it is still in negotiations to get rights for major US sports from leagues such as the NBA, NFL and MLB.
