Rapper Snoop Dogg has dropped the second part of his moniker and will now become a reggae artist by the name of Snoop Lion.
Snoop says
I went to the temple, where the high priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg’. And he looked me in my eyes and said: ‘No more. You are the light. You are the lion.’ From that moment on, it’s like I had started to understand why I was there.
With no disrespect to other rappers, but they can’t fuck with me in rap. … I’ve won every accolade you can get in rap, they call me ‘Uncle Snoop’ in rap. When you’re an uncle, it’s time to find something new. … I want to feel like a kid again.
Essentially Snoop Lion thinks rap is no longer a challenge and he is done with the game. That is on top of the spiritual awakening.
Some say it is all in the weed. Others say that he has found his maker.
Still, unconfirmed reports says he wants to come and perform in Zimbabwe and we seem only keen to bring reggae/dancehall artists.
But on the real though, Snoop Lion?
