#Shoko2016: Tehn Diamond, Simba Tagz join AKA for hip hop lineup on Friday

Festival goers are set to have an unforgettable evening on Friday 23rd September at the Shoko Festival opening night as the don of South African hip hop, AKA(driven by G-Taxi) is expected to  get Harare audiences jumping by performing his series of chart topping and award-winning hits.

AKA will share the stage with Zim dancehall favourite, Winky D, and top local and international hip hop acts at the 6th edition of Shoko Festival taking place at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences, Rotten Row.

AKA has been taking over the UK and African charts with his hits ‘Dreamwork’ and ‘One Time’. Meanwhile the Zimbabwe hip hop scene will be well represented on the night by ‘Happy’ hit-maker Tehn Diamond and Simba Tagz, one of the country’s leading urban musicians and producers who has worked with Ice Prince and Burna Boy amongst others.

Also on the Zimbabwean front, the indie hip hop outfit, The Monkey Nuts are expected to take to the stage in a collaboration with Norway-based group, African Sunz. African Sunz are a powerful act with the reputation as one of Oslo’s best live hip hop acts. They will be followed by an upbeat DJ set by the Circuit party DJs.

Merrymakers will cross over to Saturday with a performance from the king of Zim dancehall, Winky D(presented by Zambezi Magic) who has been dominating the airwaves with his latest single titled Panorwadza Moyo which features Oliver Mtukudzi. Winky D’s presence at the festival certainly comes with a great promise of a sneak peek into his new song titled 25 that he has been sampling at his live shows. Winky D is presented in partnership wth Zambezi Magic.

The festival has always made a mark in hip hop lovers’ calendar. Previous editions have seen performances by Zimbabwean hip hop sensation Junior Brown, South African rapper Khuli Chana, UK hip hop legend Rodney P and multi-award winning South African rapper Cassper Nyovest.

Tickets have already gone on sale at selected outlets which include Talk City (Joina City), Moto Republik and Alliance Française Harare. This year Shoko Festival is running from 23rd to 25th, with venues set at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences for the first two days and will migrate to Chitungwiza on the last day. The festival is a product of Magamba Network, Zimbabwe’s pioneering creative organization.
