Shoko Festival is set to initiate artist panels in order to make sure that artist views are integrated into the festival.
Zimbabwe’s biggest festival of urban culture over the past year initiated audience panels and programme panels that brought on board diverse feedback and input from the public that helped propel Shoko to hosting its most successful festival yet in September 2015. Over 9,000 people attended Shoko Festival 2015 and audiences were entertained by world-class performances by the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Junior Brown and Bucie.
Says Festival Director Samm Farai Monro aka Comrade Fatso.
The goal of the artist panels is to improve the working experience with our artists for the following editions of Shoko Festival. We appreciate and give thanks to the artists who performed at Shoko 2015 for their amazing performances and their patience after the festival. We had delays with some sponsorship arriving but the hundreds of artists who graced the stage at this year’s festival have now all been fully paid. Shoko Festival is a festival created by artists for artists and so we appreciate the hard work that each and every artist put into the festival. The artist panels will help us take artist views on board as we plan for an inspired Shoko 2016.
Shoko Festival witnessed its most successful edition ever based on bumper crowd attendance. The 5th edition of the festival was held from September 24th – 26th under the theme ‘Hear Your City’ at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences and the Chitungwiza Community Hall at Unit L, Seke. This year the festival featured acts such as comedians Tol A$$ Mo, Deep Fried Man and Doc Vikela and musicians Blak Twang (UK), Symbiz (Ger) and Trae Yung. Shoko Festival is Zimbabwe’s biggest festival of urban culture and is produced by Magamba Network.
