Sha Sha is a BET Award winner and this is why it’s super important

She will now be referred to ostensibly as BET Award Winner Sha Sha.

Zimbabwe’s star has made her indelible mark on the international stage as she landed the BET Viewer’s Choice Award on Sunday.

That she has been a sensation over the last year bossing it to amapiano queen levels is nothing but the truth.

For her part, reacting to the win, she said:

Man I am super-excited I can’t believe I just won this award. And firstly, I just wanna thank God, my family, my people back at home in Zimbabwe, South Arica, My team Blaq Boy, Khaya Defero. Everybody, you guys have been super amazing

Massive win this for the Mutare girl.

From watching her perform at Hifa’s main stage a few years ago on a sunny afternoon, we have seen her evolve into a star.

Very little is said about how Fungai ‘Kush’ Zvirawa has held her hand through this process, including her into the right conversations and landing the deals that mattered. It was a long methodic process and it has culminated in this major milestone.

What takes this further is that it is not just an award. It is the voting component which means that Sha Sha’s footprint is massive and this award merely projects it further.

And it opens the conversation about Zimbabwe’s talent base to the rest of the world.
