Seven Zimbabweans Up For African Entertainment Awards

Zimbabwe artists and entrepreneurs are among nominees for this year’s African Entertainment Awards.

Tehn Diamond is up for the best hop artists/songs for his hit Happy and faces some stiff competition from the likes French Montana and AKA.

Selmor is up for hottest female single of the year for Nguva Yangu. In that category you have Tinashe with 2 On, Yemi Alade with Johnny, Zahara with Loliwe and Maya Zuda’s Kwankwaram.

Comrade Fatso is up for best comedian and will take on BasketMouth, Trevor Noah, Anne Kansime and Michael Blackston.

Tongayi Chirisa whose latest TV show The Jim Gaffigan show debuted this week is up for best actor in a film or series for Crusoe.

Danai Gurira who is Michonne in the US smash hit series, The Walking Dead is up for Best Actress in a Film or Series.

Farai Gundan makes the list of entrepreneur of the year nominee.

Farai Simoyi is listed among designer of the year nominees.

Although it does feel like a couple of throwbacks in there given some of those singles are a few years old, this might not be the case for the international market. After all, just because something is a smash hit locally, it does not mean it reached, touched and messed with the rest of the world real nice.
