Roki not snubbed – Urban Grooves Reunion organisers

Rumors has already spread that one of the Urban Grooves pioneers Rockford Gold was disdainfully left out off the imminent reunion show.

Considering his enormous and consistent contribution to the genre, many felt that it can not go unquestioned why the Munhumutapa singer is missing on the headliners. In a bid to clarify this we reached out to both camps to find out the reasons for the exclusion.

Said Taurai Mandebvu, one of the organizers:

Roki is in SA and I didn’t have his contacts and no one in my circles knew if Tomy was e manager or booking agent.So yeah, by the time Dutch got in touch it was late and Tomy said they can’t make it coz he’s shows in SA.”

We also reached out to Roki’s camp and they also echoed the same sentiments. His manager Tomy Dutch revealed that they are currently shooting musical videos and on a tour. Otherwise, there in no bad blood.

The Urban Grooves Reunion show will be held at Kingfisher in Emerald Hill this Friday (Nov 25). Among the headliners of the show are Maskiri, ExQ, Ba Shupi, Sani Makhalima, Trevor Dongo, Dj Smiley, Pauline, Tererai and Leonard Mapfumo.
