Zimbabwean religious leader Uebert Angel has had his shirt auctioned for a cool $10,000 at a glitzy all-white birthday bash at City Sports Centre.
Not only that, the Spirit Embassy founder’s pair of his socks went for US$1 500; a tie US$700; another shirt US$4 000 and an air rifle US$5 500. A portrait of him, United Family International Church leader Emmanuel Makandiwa and their spiritual father Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng of Ghana, also went under the hammer at US$7 500.
The money went into Angel’s pocket as ‘seeds’. Among those who were bidding was Local Government, Urban and Rural Development Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo. The auctioned was launched by Makandiwa.
Pastor Charles and Amai Olivia Charamba, Mahendere Brothers, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi and South African gospel icon Sipho Makabane were among those who provided the entertainment.
It’s a good time to be a religious leader in Zimbabwe. These are Zimbabwe’s rockstars
