The crowning glory of this year’s Harare International Festival of the Arts came in the form of Mali great Habib Koite with a few friends joining him on stage.
It was six days filled with collaborations, the creation of forever moments celebrating the renewed spirit of the festival and it made sense that the final day carried on with this.
The explosion of colour was not just in the visuals candent off the stage but sonic blasts, each instrument riding, biting and dancing with the other.
And Oliver Mtukudzi made his third appearance at the festival in an explosive moment pregnant with the emotion that defined the festival.
All in all, it was about the master, Habib Koite, back for another HIFA – Staging An Intervention.
He is a friend of the Festival and we are sure he will be back.
