OPPORTUNITY: Open call for short web documentaries

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and Jos de Putter from Deep Focus Web Documentaries invite entries for project proposals from talented (young) filmmakers.

CAMERAMAN

IDFA and Jos de Putter will commission the short documentaries that will be presented on various platforms like IDFA.tv and De Correspondent, but could travel to other platforms and festivals. The first result of the collaboration has already been made: Meryem by Reber Dosky can now be seen at De Correspondent.

Profile

The focus of the project must be urgent, personal and cinematographic. The main challenge is to bring the right story at the right time – the urgency behind each film is paramount. But the news-value is not the main topic of interest; we focus precisely on the approach of the author, who through his or her particular way of storytelling enforces identification, makes the viewer share the urgency of the subject and also concentrates on the artistic value of the work.

The films’ length can range from 12 to 16 minutes.

For further inquiries e-mail Jos de Putter: [email protected].

Submit your proposal

Submissions have to include the following in their application:

– CV/portfolio of the applicant;

– Description of the project (Dutch or English, max 500 words);

– Support material (video’s, photos, linked media etc);

– Overview of estimated costs (including fees, production, accommodation, travel, etc.).

E-mail your submission to [email protected] before 1 February 2017.

This call is supported by Stichting Dioraphte.
