Ngoma NeHosho introduces new baby, the ‘Jabulani Jazz Festival’

Events management and artist management company, Nhoma NeHosho, has announced a new product, the Jabulani Jazz Festival.

Partnering with Unesco, Hyundai Zimbabwe ,Old Mutual and CredSure, the festival will run in situ (limited due to you-know-what) and virtually this week.

With the already wildly successful Jacaranda Music Festival in its portfolio, we wondered why they needed to have another a separate show.

Well, in a detailed press release, the company said, “We have had several genres of music featured on the Jacaranda Music Festival stage; from hip hop, pop to reggae but never enough Jazz.

“It was then we decided that the Jazz genre needed its own stage and after extensive consultation a decision was made to create a Festival that celebrates the mother of all music genres-the JABULANI JAZZ FESTIVAL.”

While the inaugural one is virtual due to you-know what, the organisers do plan to make this an annual event carrying on a hybrid format.

This year’s edition will stream online, Friday the 30th of April 2021. It also happens to be International Jazz Day, appropriately you would say. Performing will be Sylent Nqo, TakaNemaChinda and Mimmie Tarukwana, this from 7pm.

But before that, on Thursday the 29th of April, the festival has artist development workshops for musicians, music managers, music producers and so forth.

The panel of speakers this day include booking agents, festival directors, jazz artist managers, and media practitioners from South Africa, Zimbabwe, USA, Spain and Senegal.

There are two sessions.

The first one is a financial education workshop facilitated by Kudzai Mubaiwa representing Old Mutual starting at midday to 1330 GMT via the Ngomanehosho facebook page.

The UNESCO Creative Community Workshop in partnership with Credsure will be the second workshop of the day and is themed “Gateway to the Global stage and growing the Creative Economy”. This workshop is designed to help those in the arts sector to discover paths and opportunities in the global creative economy. Lessons from established music business professionals on : how to get booked, signed, airplay, tour, management, digital income streams so as to effectively take part in the global creative economy. This workshop will again be available virtually on the Ngoma Nehosho Facebook Page at 1500 – 1630.
