Napoleon Nyanhi is the new NAMA boss and we had a chat with him about it

Broadcaster Napoleon Nyanhi is the man who is driving the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA).

And of course we had to have a chat with him on it all.

Here is our exclusive interview with Napoleon (NN):

3-mob.com: How did you get your hands on the Namas?
NN: Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC) which I now lead as the Managing Director recently got the license to manage the NAMA for the next 5years and I am humbled to serve as Executive Producer for the awards

3-mob.com: What was your vision?
NN: I must say, I have been on record, saying that we need to improve the standard of events in Zimbabwe particularly award ceremonies following my exposure and opportunities I got to travel and see how other countries do things. There is a lot of work to be done, Chief among them to improve the perception of the Awards, thus our theme “Taking It Back To The People” so that there is buy-in from the creative world and the nation at large. Obviously to make them the most coveted and premier awards in the country.

3-mob.com: What do you bring that is different?
NN: I can safely say preparations for the Awards fete are already well underway and we are only going to have the Awards end of February 2020. Nothing beats good preparation. We are a young team that is very agile and eager to bring a global standard. Our strong links in China & South Africa will also give us leverage on show production and creating value for winners. It is a lot of work and I know people and stakeholders are expecting more and we hope to deliver just that.

3-mob.com: How much pressure do you feel being the man leading this project?
NN: I can not even begin to explain 😅. It’s a Huge task ahead and So little done, so much to do but we will conquer. We will take the bull by the horns

3-mob.com: How will you bring stakeholders together for Nama 2020?
NN: The moment someone can see value and opportunities for themselves in what we are trying to do, the work will be done. The goal is to create value, in good time as well, so as to attract the much-needed stakeholder participation and this is not limited to sponsorship only but the creative community and the people of Zimbabwe
