NAMA Submissions Closed

The submissions for consideration for the National Arts Merits Awards for 2015 have now closed.

606 entries were submitted for the showcase awards event to be held in Harare at the 7 Arts Theatre on 14 February 2014.

The 9 categories under review are Music, Literary, Dance, Visual, Film and Television, Theatre, Media, Spoken Word and Special awards.

The entries are from all provinces and the adjudication process will commence within a week. Those who submitted include production houses, studios, stables, galleries, organisations, associations, groups, artistes, monitors and/or the public. However, nominees will be released during the first week of February next year.

As for the selection criteria, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe appoints a team of Monitors who keep an eye on excelling artists throughout the year. A panel of independent Adjudicators is appointed to preside over all the submissions and nominees and winners are then selected for each award category. The adjudicators are guided by a set selection criteria. The NAMA disciplines that are adjudicated are dance, film, literary arts, theatre, music, visual arts, media and spoken word.
