MUSIC TO WATCH OUT FOR: Thabo & The Real Deal

We came across this group called Thabo & The Real Deal thanks to a friend on Twitter.

We had seen their name on the lineup for this past weekend’s Zimfest London and always meant to give them a look.

After having a look we were impressed. They are fronted by a Zimbabwean, Thabo Mkwananzi and they say their mission statement is to make music that Bob Marley would listen to an enjoy if he was alive.

The band shys away from drumkit, bass and brass – relying instead on Fender Rhodes (Aron Kyne), percussion (Ali Mac), acoustic guitar (Emmanuel Allert) and Thabo’s vocals to bring their brand of ‘bare knuckle soul’ to life.

They have two EPs, the first self-titled and the second called World War Free.

We’ve posted a single and a video below. The single is called Revolution and the video is of the title track for the second EP World War Free.
