MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW: Jah Prayzah – Furuwa

Jah Prayzah has put his spin and take on the classic Tairos Tendaupenyu-composed love song, Furuwa.

As a classic, based on its familiarity and all, it is tested so it is an easy listen and in many parts of it, Jah Prayzah’s little bits make for an awesome experience. Essentially, well, he modernised.

The video is done by Nick Roux, shot in South Africa, and so, well, it does feel less Zimbabwean than usual. And for a song like Furuwa, steeped in township-style unique to these climes, it makes the aesthetics, though brilliant, fall flat.

Also, small details such as the watch he is wearing matter. As part of it appear to be flashbacks, so the fashion sense, is well, how do we put it, different.

Still, aesthetically, it works.

Rating: 4.5 out of 6.
