Three Men on a Boat 
Do Zimbabweans have artistic talent? Certainly, there is a lot of it. No community is void of artistic expression. However, as with all potential, there is not much that can be done about it if the value does not benefit the artist and the community as a whole.
In order for music, dance, visual, and written arts to be a successful industry as is the case in other countries, it must be approached as seriously as one would approach a business.
However if truth be told, certain painful facts have to be faced straight in the eye and although the arts sector in Zimbabwe is slowly gaining recognition as a source of occupation; most people still consider art as hobbies or past-times.
However part of the blame lies on the players in the arts themselves. Zimbabwean artists need to start looking at their work seriously with the understanding that art has the potential for contributing to the development of the economy in a significant way.
Most artists and promoters in Zimbabwe just lack professionalisms in conducting their craft it therefore makes it hard for other people to take them seriously. It is also important for artists to carefully select those that manage, promote and sell their work. Some managers/promoters don’t just cut it and it reflects badly on the artist work.
Artists need to learn to decide how best their art should be packaged and marketed. This will enable them to create artistic brands that are competitive not just in Zimbabwe but the world over.
However before we even start thinking of conquering the world we need to start making small changes at home first. Take for instance something like time management, most events particularly music shows in Zimbabwe cannot start on time for some odd reason.
Time management is such a basic requirement in the arts, its actually embarrassing we still cannot get such a simple thing right.
