M-Net won’t challenge Cliff court decision, but…

Pay-TV channel M-Net says it will not challenge a court ruling to reinstate controversial DJ Gareth Cliff to its judging panel for the upcoming season of Idols SA.

It did however maintain that it had done nothing wrong whenthe decision was made to remove Cliff from its show over  the ‘free speech’  tweet at the height of the Penny Sparrow saga.

Cliff says he does not understand why M-Net will not accept that it erred and hoped that it would do so one day. However he holds no grudge against M-net or its parent company.

He added that ‘the show must go on’ and said expected no awkwardness between himself and fellow judges.

His lawyers say the DJ will take his position on 3 February as expected. They also say on the defamation application which is ‘hanging’ they have extended a ‘hand of friendship’.

We see more people tuning in to the show than ever due to the controversy. It has benefited Cliff Central thus far, the DJ says.

Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League says it will protest Idols. Over a contract decision made by the High Court? Come on now.
