Oscar-award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has landed a role in a play written by Zimbabwe’s Danai Gurira.
Eclipsed is a play set in the second Liberian Civil War and focuses on a group of women who are wives as well as prisoners of a rebel officer.
The play and Nyong’o debut in New York City and the run from 9 September to 8 November. It will be staged at the Public and will be directed by Liesl Tommy

Gurira has staged some of her plays in Zimbabwe such as The Convert and In The Continuum. She also performed in the latter.
