This is an interesting take on the late Dendera music king Simon ‘Choppa’ Chimbetu’s song by the same name.
Mafuta it is called.
His son, Sulumani Chimbetu, is on the song with Lamont Chitepo and Tytan. Spirit Fingerz and Mr Kamera have done the production on this.
The inserts and plays by all the performers, breathing new life into what is a classic. It does not rise to the levels of the original which was a masterpiece, an orchestral experience. That is probably not what it was meant to do, because it is a fun interpretation, well-executed.
On the video, when we knew Andy Cutta was on it, we expected the quality it comes with. Clean visuals, opulence, delicate and engaging.
