The judges panel has recused itself from the Zim Hip Hop Awards this year.
This is the statement in full

The judges panel for the Zim HipHop Awards 2013 would like to announce that we hereby recuse ourselves of the judging duty for this year citing a lack of material from the ZHHA with which to execute our duties effectively.
As stated live on Zifm previously by myself Mr Simba Masoka and my fellow judge Mr Dzikamai Chibaya, the HipHop nominees list for 2013 was arrived at by means of tallying up statistics and submissions from various stakeholders in the industry, from radio, press and online media. The nominees list was out on the 19th of November 2013, thereafter the panel of nine judges were supposed to have been furnished with all the music that made the nominees list for us to deliberate on and vote on the winners. In spite of numerous efforts, the music has not been made available to date, even at the time of releasing this statement. We are less than 24 hours away from the awards now, so even if the music were to be made available at this point, the timeline is no longer tenable for us to deliberate and arrive at a credible winners’ list. It is with very heavy hearts that we take this action. We waited until now in the hope that even as late as yesterday, some sort of plan could be made, and the situation salvaged somehow, but now the timeline’s just impossible.
We would like to state however that we all remain committed to the cause of urban music in Zimbabwe and commend Mr Aldrian Harrison for his efforts in pushing HipHop forward in our country and giving it a platform to stand out amongst other urban genres as the only one with its own awards show so far. The entire judges panel will continue to support him and the ZHHA in our personal and professional capacities and we wish them the best of luck tonight.
Simbarashe Masoka
Head Judge ZHHA 2013
