Jibilika Pulls Out Of Trashed Dance Championship

Jibilika Dance Trust has announced its withdrawal from the Trashed Dance Championships over contractual issues.

Jibilika, a youth-run urban arts development for re-engagement organisation, was tasked with artistic management of the event by the Proudly Zimbabwean Foundation. The show is set for 6 December at 7 Arts.

10 dance crews –  6 of which would come Harare –  were meant to be mobilised with auditions set for 1 to 6 November at Alliance Francaise.

Jibilika says no communication in as far as the contract, which they had not seen by the time they withdrew.  Further to that Jibilika expressed ‘growing concern over the organisation’s ability to host the event let alone take care of the artists’s welfare and the prizes’.

Last-ditch efforts were apparently made to save the situation but Jibilika says it is uninterested.
