The inaugural September Issue was held this past 3 September 2016 at the Fife Ave shopping centre in the Avenues, Harare.
It is the brainchild of Nompumelelo Marilyn Samambgwa together with a group of designers who wanted to create something that was exclusively them.
Why the September issue? Samambgwa says it was all about the challenge:
It is aimed at creating new channels for marketing designers. We had invited retail buyers though most didn’t come. We’ll be sending lookbooks to retailers including online ones.
On whether this would be a feature of the fashion calendar in Harare:
Bi annually actually. The September Fashion Issue is under the The Fashion Issue Trust. The second one will be held on 24 February 2017 (TBC). The third one on 1 September 2017.
