HIDDEN CULTURE’S SILENT SUNSET: Intimate moment with house music at the end of the world

A party always sounds like a good idea.

A party on a quarry of rocks that date millions of years where sacrifices were held for good fortune is an even better idea.

But how about a silent sunset party,

No this is not a political party but what Jason Le Roux and Hidden Culture delivered to us this past Saturday at Domboshawa.

It felt like camping on steroids first of all, as we carried a cooler box that must have weighed at least 15kg up the undulating quarry to the top. Jason said that it was worth it, and the first swig of the beverage of choice would be that much better once one hit the peak.

And it was. We arrived early and it was just close to an hour before the first lot came in, followed by a wave of revelers who came to the church of house music, dancing on the mountains, waiting for sunset.

When Jason turned on the generator, with the wireless headsets provided for attendees, the way you felt about house music, there on the edge of the world, was intimate. It was a personal experience.

You danced away as much as you were pensive, walked from crowds, bumped into what felt like familiar strangers, in your dalliance with sound and nature.

The curves in the rocks, their carvings, the light dancing off them, the sinews, all felt different. The sun which baked before suddenly added to a rich experience.

And Jason even dj’ed while sitting down for the first time in his whole life.

As for the crowd. It was mixed, families with kids, adult groupings, girl groups, couples, the works.

And at the end of the day, our souls were replenished.

Hidden Culture is onto something with this. It is a recommend and highly.

Quick shout out to Simba and Adele who did their hosting duties very ably.
