Harare’s Charter House to be converted into a five-star hotel with a helipad

Big investment news coming out of Harare.

Mashonaland Holdings Limited R Mundagayi with ZTA Acting Chief Executive Ruth Likukuma

A project will see the conversion of Charter House in Harare into a hotel which is estimated to cost close to US$20 million and of interest is that the hotel will have a helipad.

In a speech read on her behalf by ZTA board member Dr Precious Sibiya, Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality said:

The project is poised to change the face of tourism in the capital by adding a five-star luxury accommodation. Currently, Harare in particular and the country at large has limited 5-star accommodation facilities. The conversion of Charter House into a luxury hotel will see at least 80 hotel rooms being added to the current hotel room capacity of 2371 in Harare. Even with this additional capacity Harare would still be lagging behind other cities in the region such as Johannesburg and Lusaka hence the need for more tourism investment not only in accommodation facilities but also modern conferencing facilities and amusement parks to mention just a few

A Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between Mashonaland Holdings Limited & Touch Road International Holdings Group took place at Meikles Hotel.

Mashonaland Holdings Limited Managing Director Gibson Mapfidza said the MOU is a culmination of engagements between themselves, Touch Road International Holdings Group & the ZTA.

This mega investment is a result of the President’s inaugural state visit to China in May last year where Touchroad Group signed an MOU with the Tourism Ministry. The total quantum of the perceived business investment initiatives was pegged at 1.2 billion. Touchroad has interests in tourism & hospitality investment promotion.

We just like the helipad fam. We like the helipad.
