Gemma Griffiths, Tariro NeGitare, Jam Signal added to Shoko 2017 lineup

Shoko Festival is set for another enthralling Acoustic Sunset show this year with performances headed up by acoustic guitar sensation Tariro NeGitare and the acclaimed composer Gemma Griffiths.

Shoko Festival’s Acoustic Sunset programme is produced in partnership with Unplugged, and will be taking place on the 29th and 30th of September at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences.

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Tariro neGitare will open the Acoustic Sunset lineup with her contemporary urban sounds and AfroSoul feel on Friday the 29th of September. She has shared the stage with prominent local and international artists Oliver Mtukudzi, Stella Chiweshe , Dudu Manhenga, Publish the Quest and Noisettes.

The talented Harare-based band Jam Signal will also be entertaining crowds on Friday with their AfroPop sound. Jam Signal rose to fame with their hit song Jikina in 2015 and have gone on to release several other jams – Stuck in
My Head, Overrated and Sweet Addiction .

Gemma Griffiths, Probeatz and Sylent Nqo will take to the Acoustic Sunset stage on Saturday the 30th of September. Acclaimed acoustic soul singer and composer Gemma Griffiths gained overnight success with her hit interpretation of Winky D’s Musarova Biggman in 2016 and has performed at a variety of music and arts festivals around the world.

Closing out the Acoustic Sunset evening are Probeatz and Sylent Nqo. Probeatz is a talented beatboxer whose simultaneous multi-vocal percussion abilities defy nature and have earned him international awards and appearances.

Sylent Nqo is an international award winning guitarist and instrumentalist who has worked with national and international superstars Davido, Jah Prayzah, Mr Eazi and Audius Mtawarira. “The Acoustic Sunset is always a great show,” says Shoko Festival Coordinator Natalie Kombe, “and with acts like Tariro NeGitare and Gemma Griffiths it’s undoubtedly going to be a really memorable evening.”

Shoko Festival is Zimbabwe’s biggest festival of urban culture and is produced by Magamba Network. Tickets for Shoko Festival go on sale in September with general admission tickets going for $10 per day, $5 per day for varsity/college students with a valid student ID, $5 for 2 high school students in uniform.
