Zimdancehall star Freeman is out of police custody after his arrest and questioning in connection with links to armed robbers.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the development on Tuesday evening:
Reference is made to ZRP previous post on the arrest of musician Energy Chizanga (34) aka ”Freeman”. The ZRP reports that Freeman has been released pending further inquiries. More information will be released as the investigations unfold.
He has found himself linked to two armed robbery suspects, both dead after shootouts with police.
Godknows Machingura, 44, was shot dead in a shootout with police this past December. He was a socialite and music promoter, a close friend of Freeman.
In 2021, another robber, Charles Chirara, was gunned down and too linked Freeman.
The artist says while he knew the pair, he denies knowledge of their criminal activities.
