Formal rape case opened against DJ Fresh and Euphonik

Police in South Africa have opened a rape cases against two celebrity DJs Fresh and Euphonik.

The pair have the case opened against them by a woman who took to Twitter alleging that they had drugged and raped her.

She posted on Tuesday, “@DJFreshSA & @euphonik will you ever acknowledge drunking (drugging) me & further raping me? I was completed (completely) drugged I don’t whether you BOTH raped me or 1 of you did & you later laughed about it the next morning saying we (me & 3 girls) were so drunk we kept blacking out but nasidlwengula (you raped us).”

Both Fresh and Euphonik work at radio station, 947, which is owned by Primedia Broadcasting.

Primedia Broadcasting CEO Geraint Crwys-Williams and 947 and Primedia Broadcasting were evaluating all the information of the alleged misconduct.

Eyewitness News, whose parent company is Primedia Broadcasting quoted Crys-Williams as saying, “We take these matters extremely seriously and apply a rigorous, systematic internal process to assess them. We are awaiting substantiation of the current information from the relevant authorities. Once we have this, we will respond accordingly.”

On Thursday, DJ Fresh denied the allegations saying, “I am aware that assertions have been made about me on social media and I understand that this is often the price of being in the public eye. The fact that these claims are untrue and from an unknown source, does not make them less hurtful,”
