Fantan, Levels issue public apology [full statement inside]

Chillspot Records pair Levels and Fantan have apologised over the Mbare party that caused a stir because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The party, held on new years eve, resulted in the pair getting jailed for 12 month, with six suspended. They are now currently out on bail as they appeal their sentences.

Here is their apology in full:

PUBLIC APOLOGY BY DJ FANTAN & LEVELS
WE (DJ FANTAN & LEVELS) come before you fellow Zimbabweans with a great sense of humility, shame and regret. WE UNRESERVEDLY AND WHOLE HEARTEDLY APOLOGIZE to the Government of Zimbabwe, all stakeholders; the nation at large, the Mbare community, our family members, friends, legion of followers/fans across the country and beyond our borders for violating the Public Health (Covid-19 Prevention and Containment) regulations when we participated in an unsanctioned music gig on new year’s eve.
WE apologized before in court, continue to do so unreservedly and whole heartedly. In court, we readily pleaded guilty to the charges as a sign of our genuine remorse and contrition. WE sincerely regret our irresponsible, unlawful conduct and accept that we FAILED all of you. Many young people across the country, especially ghetto youths, look up to us as their role models but our conduct was far from being exemplary.
WE humbly ask that you all find it in your hearts to forgive us for what we did. To err is human but to forgive is divine. WE have since gone through the processes of arrest, incarceration, been convicted and have spent some time in jail after we were sentenced; all of which has brought shame on us, our families, friends and great disappointment to our fans/followers.
WE are extremely grateful to have been admitted to bail pending our appeal against sentence. WE have self-introspected, learnt from our mistake and are desirous to make right our misdeeds. We offer ourselves to serve the country and our community by playing a positive role in the fight against Covid-19.
WE commit ourselves both as Chillspot Recording Studio management and individually to support and complement Government and other stakeholder efforts by embarking in Covid-19 prevention, education and public awareness campaigns.
WE now wish and offer ourselves to become COVID-19 YOUTH AMBASSADORS.
WE hope to use our God-given talents, leverage on our popularity and influence especially among youths, to become positive change agents.
Covid-19 is real and it is causing havoc with devastating effects. Observing all Covid-19 regulations helps and protects me, you and our loved ones. Let us all be responsive, responsible and law abiding citizens. Help us spread the message and not the virus.
