Dobba Don’s drug recovery is a real inspiration

When Dobba Don sang his song Mudendere, little did his fans know that he was in the slough of despond.

“Peer pressure got me into this. Some people introduced me into drugs and that was my downfall,” he told ZBC’s Patience Nyagato.

And it affected his work to a large extent.

“During that time, I didn’t even remember to wash my own clothes or eat. No one even wanted to work with me because it was evident that I was not sober,” he continued.

It showed, because his public output was limited, a lot of fans reduced to almost-hits.

Dobba Don was even managed by Red Fox Records at some point, and even their resources could not help.

But he is on new path now.

“But I thank God i have now recovered and i am back on track,” he told the same outlet.

Recovering from drugs is a brave decision, and there are resources available to help you on this journey. Here are some initial steps:

Seek professional help:

  • Treatment facilities can provide medical detox to manage withdrawal symptoms safely and develop a personalized recovery plan.

Support is key:

  • Consider therapy to address underlying issues that may have contributed to addiction and develop coping mechanisms.
  • Support groups connect you with others on the recovery path, fostering a sense of community and accountability.

Building a healthy lifestyle:

  • Healthy habits like exercise and nutritious meals improve your physical and mental well-being, aiding recovery.
  • Identify triggers and create strategies to avoid them, reducing the risk of relapse.

That Dobba Don has worked his way to a much better place is an inspiration.

Even more that he is sharing it publicly.
