DiepCity reaches a milestone as episode 100 goes live this Friday

Friday, August 20th’s broadcast of Mzansi’s fastest-growing telenovela DiepCity will mark a milestone for the drama series as it airs its 100th episode. DiepCity, created by leading African production house, Black Brain Pictures, mirrors the life of a community in the sprawling township of Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.

The daily drama series tells the story of four disillusioned young women who were forced into crime while still in high school and who are now battling to turn their lives around by building a legitimate business.

Since the first episode in April 2021, DiepCity has won the hearts of millions of fans through its gritty and authentic style of storytelling that explores real-life subjects such as family secrets, love, revenge, aspiration, and ultimately redemption. The first 100 episodes have also been synonymous with tackling societal issues such as poverty, crime, and gender-based violence.

“Looking at the first 100 episodes, we are extremely proud of the brand new faces that we have introduced to audiences and how successfully they have combined with industry legends to create television magic”, says Mpumelelo Nhlapo, co-creator and executive producer of DiepCity. “From hilarious moments in Khelina & Ringo’s distinctive love story to the drama of The Wrongturns’ double lives, we have a lot more twists and turns in store” he concludes.

Catch DiepCity on Mzansi Magic on weekdays at 20:30.
