Danai Gurira’s ‘In The Continuum’ Set For National Tour

Danai Gurira’s award-winning play In The Continuum is set for a national tour beginning with a run in Harare this week.

It premieres on Tuesday 222 November and runs through until Saturday 26 November before it sets of on the rest of the tour.

Rooftop is presenting the play in conjunction with the US Embassy as part of the latter’s World AIDS Day activities and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. It is funded by the U.S. President’s Plan for Emergency AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which has committed $57 million dollars to the fight against HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe in 2011.

First performed in Zimbabwe at the 2006 Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA), this show features a local cast, including theatre graduate Rutendo Chigudu and journalist Sandra Chidawanyika, playing Nia and Abigail respectively. The play is produced by Daves Guzha and co-directed by Gurira and Patience Gamu Tavengwa.

The Zimbabwean-American play was originally written and performed by Gurira and and American Nicole Salter.
