Of Daily News Article Accusing Davies Of Sinister Activities Over Bryan Adams Concert

Daily News put out an article written by Maxwell Sibanda who bemoaned a supposed secrecy around the sale of tickets for the Bryan Adams show.

In it he says, after saying that the event was not sold out as declared as announced:

…why the secrecy on this particular concert?

The orgnisers of this concert are solely to blame for this mess as they did not publicly advertise the concert by such a high profile international musician.

Does Adams know that this is what happened — that the concert was exclusive to a particular audience?

And Davies Events should have a strong network of buddies that is able to send word and sell tickets within such a short time.

That indeed is frightening and a record especially for a concert of this magnitude.

After all, Zimbabweans are known for rushing for tickets towards the day of the show and more often on the actual day itself.

While the Zimbabwe gig was such a secret, already we know where Adams performs next and it is public knowledge.

In essence he accuses Davies Events of claiming tickets were sold out so it could give access to only a select few, that is to say only white people. Without saying so he quite dangerously accuses the organisers of being racist and engaging in secret society type of events. He then goes on to ask the National Arts Council to investigate this.

You see, what Sibanda is doing there? He is accusing Davies Events of not marketing a hugely successful well enough. As the kids say, smh.

Add to that the fact it is not uncommon for certain communities to know for weeks before announcement of a show is made. Dancehall circles have been known to be aware of an artist coming to Zimbabwe way before they land. The fact that they do not rush for tickets like the community Davies Events is connected to is neither here nor there.

Now, there has been a lot of hullabaloo around this concert. However saying that this was a ‘secret concert’ is just plain weird. We knew about the event which was on the Davies Events website and on Bryan Adams’s website. We reported the show as well as it being sold out.

As to the show being sold out in 13 hours, saying that this was sinister without providing proof is dangerous and careless, opening oneself up to litigation.

Mind you, the fact that the article claims the show was only announced earlier this month and not way before that shows how seriously we should take this article.

So what, if most of those who attended the show were white?
