The initiative kick starts with an exhibition match between CELEBRITIES vs. LEGENDS. The comedian who grew up in Old Mabvuku says that through well organized events and social marketing he intends to mobilise support to help out in rebuilding certain areas of his old neighborhood. Carl Joshua Ncube earlier this year formed a Feel Good Zimbabwe page on Facebook dedicated to celebrating all that is good about Zimbabwe and Mabvuku Tafara initiative is one of the by products of this project.

One day I would love to see MABVUKU have its own stadium with 30 000 people screaming at the top of their voices in support of their own team with their own name – Carl Joshua Ncube

In Mabvuku Carl will be holding a Celebrities vs. Legends match for people to see the area of Mabvuku and understand this issues Carl is hoping to address. One of the short term projects is the setting up of a youth football team helping that team to mobilise support to rehabilitate football and sporting facilities in Mabvuku that are in desperate need of refurbishment. Through football, this project will see the setting up of sponsorship channels that will give corporates great exposure of their brands while doing a lot of good in the community at the same time.

The celebrities expected to turnout include hip hop star Tehn Diamond, the beautiful Amarra Brown, radio personalities Ruvhi Parirenyatwa, Rumbi Chamvari, Lochnation, the amazing and beautiful singers Selmor Mtukudzi,Tererai, Pauline (Mafriq), in goals expect to see Tendai Manatsa and Hugo Rubatika, the diamond boy and actor/producer Munya Chidzonga, and many more. The LEGENDS (Professionals United) include Alan Johnson, Glibert Mushangazhike, Kevin Kanyama, Naison Mucheleka, Joe Luphahla, Stewart Murisa, Alvin Ndunduma, Ashley Rambanapasi, Edmore Mashiri, Naison Muchekela, Kevin Kanyama, Takesure Chiragwi, Desmond Marigwa, Douglas Ndalama, Carl Joshua Ncube is encouraging people to come out to watch some CELEBRITY football and local football “Bring your cooler boxes, meat to braai and drinks for a great day out with the family” he added.

I hope one day to mobilise enough support to build a state of the art football stadium in Mabvuku where the people can have their own team bearing the name of their area in a bid to sell Mabvuku as a vibrant tourist destination to the world.

Carl certainly believes that promoting sports tourism in Mabvuku will see an increase in visitors to the area, coming to drink at the local bars and braai meat while watching local football and local performances which will bring direct revenue to the people of Mabvuku.

The project has already received a huge endorsement from organisations like Transparency International and Sign Shop who have provided football kits that will be used in the CELEBRITIES VS LEGENDS match on the 8th of March. These same kits will be available for the local teams in Mabvuku to wear in their matches at the home ground.

Carl urges the public to visit the www.mabvukutafara.org website to keep up with the developments of the project and share in this vision.

The comedian expressed that the project requires the assistance of everyone in Zimbabwe and using this as a pilot case will allow other communities to grow in the same way Mabvuku will after this ambitious plan. The project will also see the establishment of the following:

The idea is to be able to set up a vibrant space where kids can come for football try outs, the team can practise, events can be held, and there can be weekly workshops equipping young people in sports with essential skills that will help them in the world.
