Carl Joshua Ncube Has Had Enough Of Edgar Langeveldt

It looks as if all is not well in the family that is the stand-up comedy circles in Harare.

Comic Carl Joshua Ncube has taken to his Facebook account to speak against the ‘godfather of Zimbabwean comedy’ Edgar Langeveldt. Ncube accuses Langeveldt of undermining. He posted this:

Went into comedy coz of LEGENDS like edgar langeveldt back in the days but eish I just cant be silent about my disappointment my brother! At least I still have Michael Kudakwashe to look up to #nuffsaid

In an exclusive interview with 3-mob, Ncube said while he has tolerated Langeveldt’s attacks on him and other comedians, the heckling from last night’s show at Red Bar had pushed him to the point of no return.

In my 12 years as an arts practitioner I have never seen that level of disrespect/behaviour from anyone. And the fact that he is allowed to get away with this all the time is even more disappointing! Even after the shows he will butt into conversations make an offside statement and walk off. He attacks the other comics as well but they wont step up to say it. I am just not going to be bullied that’s all.

Ncube said he appreciated the efforts of people like Kudakwashe who worked to bring up and encourage young comedians.

Ncube said he wasn’t worried about having beef with Langerveldt and then added:

I personally want no association, attachment or reference with anyone who brings the comedy industry down in this manner, we are working so hard to make it a respectable profession only to fall back so far on just one night.

We are yet to get a comment from Langeveldt and hope  we do so once he reads this article.
