The next classical music concerts in the Twelve series launched earlier this year will be presented by a piano trio, featuring Jeanette Micklem from Zimbabwe (piano), Bulent Evcil from Turkey (flute) and David Pinoit from France (cello).
The concerts take place at St John’s College in Harare on Friday July 7 and Sunday July 9. The Friday event will be an evening one, starting at an earlier winter time of 6pm (doors open 5pm for wine and snacks), while the Sunday event will be a morning concert at 11.30am, preceded by tea, coffee and light snacks.
The programme for the concerts includes works by Haydn (Trio in D major), Beethoven (Sonata in a major op.69 for cello and piano) and Paul Renan (The Songs of Cush – the premiere of three pieces for flute and cello specially commissioned for this concert). Two pieces for flute and piano will also feature: Pietro Merlacchi’s Il Pastore Svizzero (The Swiss Shepherd) and Francois Borne’s Fantasie Brilliante sur Carmen. The final piece will be Kuhlau’s Trio in G major.
Tickets are now on advance sale at The Spotlight and will also be on sale or at the door. Students in uniform can attend the concerts for free. Master classes for flute and cello will be given by Bulent Evcil and David Pinoit on Saturday July 8, details of which can be sourced from [email protected], or by calling 0772 617148.
