Bulawayo-born singer Thando Sikwila performs at T20 World Cup closing ceremony

A big time closing ceremony it was.

That is because Bulawayo-born singer Thando Sikwila, known simply as Thando performed at the closing ceremony of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia on Sunday.

She performed on ‘We Can Get Together’ with ICEHOUSE an 13-year-old Australian Indian, Janaki Easwar.

This was before the final between Pakistan and England.

Thando had two runs on The Voice Australia. Once she was she eliminated in the sing-offs. The second time she reached the final. This was in 2014 and 2022.

She also portrayed Effie White in Australia’s first professional production of Dreamgirls.

She was also once lead vocalist for Melbourne dub/reggae band Echo Drama from 2012 to 2015.

Thando has three EPs,  Bury The Weapon, Remix The Weapons, and Digital Love Letters.
