The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe is concerned about the lyrics in Rachel J and Enzo Ishall’s song Ngoro, calling them ‘sexually suggestive’.
It is not a ban but a worry on the effect they will have on children.
The circular which we have not independently verified as authentic is as below:
Now, of course, this has split opinion with some fans feeling that it was the correct decision while others feel it is much ado about nothing.
Our thinking is that, if true, it kind of takes us to a place where the next level is censorship really, where art is policed word by word so as to satisfy a certain group.

To be fair, very little is censored for its content and Zimbabwe has come across as more liberal than many would suggest. It is also possible that the advisories are sent out often and this one could just be noisy because of the stature of the artist.
That said, when art is questioned for it is seen to imply then it is that interpretation that becomes worrying.
But then again, as we said, this could all just be boredom and mischief.
