AUDIO: British Council Zimbabwe Country Director speaks on Connect Hubs project

A connect.hubs project was hosted in Zimbabwe in the last couple of days in which entities from the region underwent training.

Roland Davies – British Council Zimbabwe Country Director

The drive is a partnership between the British Council, Hivos Region of South Africa and Netsa along with Enthuse Afrika.

We had a chat with British Council Zimbabwe Country Director Roland Davies on the motive behind the campaign:

What are we are doing is trying to support hubs in Zimbabwe. The reason we are doing that is that our view, our belief is that hubs are the engines and drivers of development within the creative industries. Because what hubs do is to bring people with creative ides into an environment where they can meet other like minded. There is a possibility of giving them access to things that they need to make them succeed in what they are doing. Whether that’s skills, Whether it is the financing, Whether it is other people who can help them develop their ideas. What we are doing through this program is providing people with the training, with the networking opportunities to help them develop their creativity.

He added that hubs were huge drivers in the United Kingdom in as far as the creative industry there. Needed in Zimbabwe were things such as knowing how to write a business plan among other things in the ecosystem of the creative industry.
